What it replaces & why we love it
One SPRUCE cloth replaces 15 rolls of paper towels, saving you money and reducing landfill waste. They soften on contact with water and can absorb 15X it’s weight and they dry fast so they don’t breed bacteria or smell like sponges.
This is another small change that you can make towards a plastic and synthetic fibre free kitchen!
Material & Care
Cellulose blended with natural cotton –100% natural and renewable. Cellulose is made from tree pulp, in a similar process to making paper – the wood is soaked, pulped, dried and cut. The trees are certified sustainable under international management environment standard ISO 14001.
The SPRUCE is printed with water based environmentally friendly ink in New Zealand.
Each cloth will last you 9-12 months and can be washed over 200 times.
To wash the SPRUCE you can simply pop it into your washing machine, or in the top rack of the dishwasher. Don't use softeners as these can break down the fibres. Line dry - the sunlight can do wonders for the SPRUCE - naturally antibacterial and helps maintain whiteness.
If it ends up in your dryer it will look crinkled and shrunk, but don't worry - wet it and it will return to shape, however long term use of the dryer will shorten it's life.
To disinfect the cloth you can microwave (wet first and heat for 1min) or put it into a pot of boiling water.
End of life
Easy! This guy is Home Compostable. An independent test showed a cloth completely breaking down in 5 - 7 weeks.
