Aku was created to provide well-made, easy-care and environmentally friendly reusable menstrual pads. Pads that are discrete AND grown-up. The all-black design means NO stains, no hassles, and NO waste!
Made in New Zealand with a combination of natural and man-made fibres, each pad will replace up to 120 disposable pads! Fully machine washable and able to be sunlight or tumble dry.
Aku wanted to create a product that worked with women's cycles and acknowledged our monthly connection to the moon, whilst making as little impact on our environment through unnecessary waste.
Having made plenty of pads for her self and friends over the years she was excited to finally perfect something that was so user-friendly! The fully black pads are essentially invisible from the outside (if wearing black undies) and cleaning them and keeping them looking great and stain free is easy!
All pads are made with a moisture wicking, stain-resisting polyester top, a super trim but absorbent bamboo/hemp core and a PUL backing that is waterproof but breathable.
Materials
Aku pads are made with a moisture wicking, stain-resisting suede-cloth top, a super trim but absorbent bamboo/hemp core, and a PUL backing that is waterproof but breathable.
The soft suede-cloth top layer wicks moisture away from your skin and into the absorbent inner core. The bamboo/hemp inner has four times the absorbency of cotton. It is also fast growing, uses less water and has less impact on our environment. Both hemp and bamboo have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. The pad base is a fast drying polyester knit that has been bonded to a breathable and waterproof polyurethane film, and will last up to 1000 laundry cycles!
